Working the clashing prints trend

The clashing prints trend, do you love it or do you hate it? Either way, it's fun and a fabulous way to mix and match your wardrobe to create a unique look. Here, I'm mixing a couple of garments I've had for a while, the dress from Alice McColl for Target and the cardie ASOS. Below are a few examples of this trend working to the max, I would like to explore this further, watch this space...
Have a great weekend lovely readers!

Did you have a good weekend? My weekend was full and fabulous. Friday, hair cut at Fur, in the city, followed by a delicious lunch at Chez Dre, South Melbourne. Saturday, night out with the ladies at Ilona Staller, Carlisle St, for bubbles and cocktails and pictured is what I wore. This John Richmond LBD I have had since I was 21 (feels damn good to get back into it again!). Sunday, sampled the Peninsula Hot Springs, Rye, with my beloved, divine. So there you have it, my weekend, what did you get up to, do tell...?

Re-fashioned

The term 're-fashion' - to make new, pops up all over the blogsphere. Many blogs are primarily dedicated to doing just that. Some time ago, I had a go at my own 're-fashion, you can check my original post here. This was a very ill fitting Kate Sylvester dress that I picked up in a bargain bin and with a morning of sewing and re-styling at the Social Studio, I turned it into a figure hugging, flattering dress. Got me thinking, I must re-fashion some of the other clothes that sit dormant in my wardrobe.

Best ebay find ever, super soft leather Gorman jacket

It's has to said, this is the biggest and best bargain I have ever laid my hot little hands on. Been looking for a casual leather jacket for some time and to my delight won this beautiful Gorman (lush Australian label) soft leather jacket on ebay for the unbelievable price of $100, retail value $780!!! I absolutely love it, it will go with just about anything and it makes me smile, such a Sleekit find!
Thank you for all your lovely comments on my last post, you make my day! Have a great weekend.

Nude makeup and skin

I've been using a new product which I love, Nude Magique BB cream by Loreal. With my foundation, I like to keep it light with just the right amount of coverage to even out skin tone. This pigment formula blends with your skin and slides on smoothly, it also has the added benefit of SPF, essential for the Australian climate.
My skin has changed a lot over the last few years, obviously the sun has a major factor but there's no getting away from the fact that I'm getting older. My recent trip to Queensland has brought all my freckles out! My skincare routine consists of cleansing (Sukin Cream Cleanser), moisturizing (Aesop Camelia Nut Facial Hydrating Cream) – twice daily, MD Formulations Sun Screen and the odd face mask when I can be bothered. Recent research has shown that the secret to good skin is a diet low in sugar, mmm could you give up sugar for better skin?

Office attirish

dress: Bought on Philip Island
brooch: Gifted
braclet: Gifted
fishnets: Myer
jacket: Vivienne Westwood
shoes: Bought from a shop in Queensland
bag: Topshop
shades: Sportsgirl
As a Graphic Designer, I am lucky enough to be able wear whatever I like to work, within reason of course! (Boobs out is a no no for me) My daily wardrobe molds into my work wardrobe and vice versa. Every now and then, I might wear something that looks a little officey with a little edge. For instance, here I've teamed a fairly classic spotty frock with some fishnets, killer shoes and a Vivienne Westwood jacket. Some may say, keep your fishnets for the street but I reckon as long as your not sporting some kind of hooker like tight short skirt, it's ok to give an otherwise safe outfit another dimension.
Have a great weekend, catch you next week!

Prints and French tights

top: RedDog3
tights: Les Queues des Sardines
shoes: Topshop
skirt: Rouge Trader
brooch: Topshop (New York)

Say hello to my favorite pair of tights in the whole wide world. When I wear these people smile or do a double take, they're a real conversation starter - almost like a puppy or a new born baby! I purchased them online from French outfit Les Queues des Sardines a while ago, they have THE best tights on the planet, oh and they do cute socks too. I've featured these puppies on the blog before but check out these new styles, might need to make a new purchase...

Spring hues and MSFW

 crop trousers: ASOS
tee: Hansel
thongs: Bought in Queenland
earrings: Ebay
shades: Rare Rabbit

Melbourne basked in the most glorious weekend weather as we welcomed Spring with open arms. It's time to dust off those winter woolies and get yourself a pedicure! I wore this outfit on Saturday, crop print trousers and bright acid hues are very much on trend for the season. I've had this bright yellow tee for years, testament to my hoarding ways of never throwing anything out!
Today, marks the beginning of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW). Unfortunately, I won't be attending any catwalk shows but hope to catch a few of the free gigs around the city.
