Sleekit on the move

Apologies my dear readers, I'm in the midst of moving, hence my lack of posts and updates. Surrounded by a sea of boxes and masking tape I find myself little or no time to do anything else other than pack.
It's the end of an era, living in our Art Deco apartment where Sleekit was born and has been brought to you for the last 4 and a bit years. Many of my photo's have been taken from within my four walls, the sofa being the most frequented. I've delved into the archive to show you a few of my favorites.
It's exciting to be moving and building a new home with my family and there will be so many fabulous spaces to explore and bring you the next chapter, see you on the other side...

Inspired by Marimekko

It's hot in Melbourne, in fact we have been melting for the last few days. I've been wearing as little as possible resulting in the mozzies dining on my pasty skin, my troubled hair is frazzled I tell you; oh and I stupidly burnt my chest, you don't wanna see...
In light of my no pics to post predicament, I give you a truly inspiring look book from Marimekko, the Finnish label just keeps coming back, bigger and better. I love the colour and I'm gonna spray paint an old pair of shoes!

I won an Oscar (Oscar)

With Oscar season just around the corner, it seems fitting that I should win my very own Oscar by means of a free styling session at Oscar Oscar Salons in Doncaster. A few weeks ago, I was delighted to receive this indulgence upon entering a comp at Lady Melbourne. My name was plucked from a random picker thingo amongst a bevy of hopefuls, lucky me!
As I mentioned in my previous post, my hair is going through a bit of a faze: my hairdryer blew up (thankfully a replacement will arrive this week!), it's also falling out, not quite alopecia but my brush could host a small wig, it needs help.
With all this in mind and a free do up my sleeve, I booked a styling session with Adrian on Saturday afternoon. Adrain is responsible for Lady Melbourne's locks so I knew I was in good hands.
First impressions were, wow this place is huge, felt like a club with the decor and music pumping but luxurious and opulent. I was guided to my seat by the friendly staff and offered a menu of complimentary beverages and cookies. Thank you. Next, I was treated to a massage as I sat in the chair and almost nodded off, it was FABULOUS. After waking myself up, I was greeted by Adrian, explained my hair predicament and asked him to give me 'Big Hair'! Turns out we are neighbours and have been living in the same hood for many years, who knew.
After a personal selection of potions and conditioners, Adrain worked a little magic on my locks. I wish I had taken a before picture just to show you how bad my hair was.
Thank you Adrain and team at Oscar Oscar Salons in Doncaster for a very enjoyable afternoon and of course Lady Melbourne for making it happen.

Gorman 'All hands on deck' dress and bad hair

dress: Gorman
wedges: bought on Bleecker St, New York
box bag: Mimco
shades: Le Specs

My generous friends bought this fabulous Gorman dress for my birthday; I've worn it loads over the summer. The kind of dress you can throw on when your feeling a wee bit shabby (my hair dryer blew up the other day, hence the hair...) smart but casual if you like.
Minus a hair dryer and my locks in need of repair, turns out I won a competition over at Lady Melbourne to have my hair styled at Oscar Oscar; this Saturday. Perfect timing for this shabby chic gal. Stay tuned, it's gonna be big, HUGE.
